In a two-stage selection process, the new members of the District Advisory Council for Participation and Integration were elected in April 2022. This Advisory Council consists of migrant self-organizations (MSO) and other non-profit actors who either reside, work or operate in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district and advises the administration on all issues relating to participation, migration and integration, integration policy, diversity and interculturality, as well as democracy promotion and anti-discrimination.
On May 31, 2022, the Executive Board was elected from the ranks of the Advisory Council and then officially elected.

Tasks of the Advisory Council for Participation and Integration:
The Advisory Council is committed to equal coexistence for all residents in the district, regardless of ethnic origin, gender, religion, ideology, age, disability or sexual orientation. The advisory council advocates the participation of all migrants and their descendants in municipal and political work.
- It advises the district office and the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district council on all matters concerning migrants living and/or working in the district.
- The advisory council deals with the living conditions of migrants and their descendants in the district. It issues statements on political, social and cultural matters of migrants in the district and submits proposals on topics relevant to participation and migration.
- The advisory council has the right to submit suggestions, recommendations and statements to the district office via the chairperson.
It usually meets every 2 months (the first Tuesday of each month), the meetings are usually open to the public and the meeting dates are set in advance for the entire calendar year.
